A Welsh seaside holiday, you say? With sand and sea at award-winning beaches betwixt a giant limestone headland where wild Kashmiri goats do graze? And, er, possibly some year-round skiing and snowboarding too? Take the clan camping in Llandudno. The genteel Victorian seaside resort is the biggest in Wales and has all sorts to keep all sorts contented, including a long long pier that’s the lengthiest in Wales, a traditional sweet shop named Grumpy’s (for Allsorts?) and the prestige of being named his favourite seaside resort by travel boffin Bill Bryson (and he’s been around a bit, we hear). Take to a toboggan for a hurtle along the Cresta Toboggan run too; at 750 metres it’s the longest in Britain.
Book a Llandudno campsite as a base for exploring the North Wales coast or just stick to this section of shoreline: the goat-adorned limestone headland here is Great Orme and is a top Llandudno spot for visitors after a day on the West Shore or North Shore beaches. Even if you’re a dedicated follower of beachgoing, have a day on the Orme among the seabirds; truly restful sorts can take the Llandudno Cable Car to the summit.
