Perhaps Robert Plant meant Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales and England, when he penned Stairway to Heaven in a cottage in Gwynedd’s Pennal. Perhaps not, but a clamber to the top with a guitar for a Led Zeppelin tribute might be in order: if you’re too puffed, we’ll helpfully point out that there’s a mountain railway to steam people and musical instruments up to the summit (and a tramway into the mines at Llechwedd Slate Caverns, for sensible Gwynedd sightseeing/caterwauling high and low).
With most of Snowdonia National Park lying within it, Gwynedd has countless spots for soulful singing; the Llyn Peninsula lies within the county too, most of which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
