We’ve been looking forward to writing about camping in St Davids. Not that we’d be disloyal to the many many other areas we love around the land, but, well, St Davids in Pembrokeshire is a wee bit special. It’s Britain's smallest city for one, is within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park for two, and is close to surf spot Whitesands Beach and the bass fishing of Caerbwdi for three and four. Go. And take a sea fishing trip out for mackerel and pollock while you’re at it. And a day trip to Ramsey Island. That’s five and six, and St Davids Cathedral makes seven…
St Davids is also on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, on the nine and a mile trek from Caerfai Bay to Whitesands past teeny St Non’s church and with Ramsey Island to the west; tramp on the 11 miles to Trefin from Whitesands towards St Davids Head and past Abereiddy Bay and the Blue Lagoon. Other local hikes, and Sustrans cycle route maps, are on all our St Davids campsites: the coast path is only about 115 miles from St Davids down south to Amroth if you’re feeling saintly.
