Sharks can be found lurking in Rhyl on the Denbighshire coast in Wales. Admittedly around the underwater tunnel at the town SeaQuarium rather than frenziedly in the waves off the beach, but still, this is the only underwater walkthrough tunnel in north Wales and it be where the sharks do lurk. We do not recommend at all donning a plastic fin while swimming underwater from Rhyl beach later, certainly not, but it might be a giggle to wear one/mortify the offspring on a sandy stroll along the beach from a Rhyl campsite to Prestatyn?
Aside from the sharks, a camping holiday in Rhyl is decidedly family-friendly, with three play centres in town and the theme park Knightly’s a couple of miles away in Towyn. The harbour was given a facelift a couple of years back to add a new bridge linking National Cycle Network Route 5 from Rhyl to Prestatyn; hire a bike at the harbour to pedal your way along. (Plastic fin optional.)
