To zoo or not to zoo? To zoo, of course, although if you’re having a holiday in Chester there are many more things to be pencilled in after you spend the obligatory two or three days at cracking Chester Zoo: taking a walk on the most complete city walls in the country for one, with bonus points for imaginary games where you’re defending your ancient city from incoming orcs. (Points taken off if people around you figure out what you’re doing and start edging nervously away.)
It’s probably frowned upon these days to camp actually on the city walls, but there are Chester campsites and caravan parks close by for getting back to your berth after a day in the city, with loads more leisurely options available on sites and in the surrounding countryside: use the Pitchup.com filters to find a park according to theme or activity. And then, once you’re suitably relaxed, it’s back to the city: we hear there’s a cathedral and a castle to defend too.
