Coo, it’s all rather cultured in the Centre department of Indre-et-Loire. It contains quite a chunk of the Loire Valley (think vineyards, medieval villages and the peerless châteaux of the Renaissance like Château de Chambord and Château d' Amboise) and has the Loire Valley’s cultural capital Tours – think art and history town, fifteenth and sixteenth century capital of France and what’s said to be the purest form of the lingo in the country for parlez-vousers to practise on. Camping in cultured countryside? Rather.
Luckily, camping in Indre-et-Loire isn’t on the level of ‘culture’ one might be used to from reading certain Sunday supplements (think: ‘weepingly expensive’): Indre-et-Loire campsites cover budgets – and accommodation – to suit all, whether your ideal hol there is stepping daintily around the grand Renaissance gardens of Chateau of Villandry, stepping less daintily among the vineyards of the Touraine, or stepping sans dignity with the kids around the adventure centres of Luluparc and Youpimom….
