Nestled deep within Sherwood Forest, Sherwood Hideaway is a collection of luxury holiday lodges in a secluded setting that is ideal for romantic escapes, family holidays and luxury short breaks.

This holiday lodge park is located on the magnificent Thoresby Hall Estate where there is a fine range of leisure facilities, easily accessed from these superb holiday lodges. The tranquil woodland setting is surrounded by leafy paths in the Thoresby Estate and across Sherwood Forest – ideal for leisurely strolls and for a more active walking holiday. Sherwood Hideaway is an attractive base for cycling holidays – the beautiful location is perfect for exploring woodland trails.

The abundance of open spaces makes Sherwood Hideaway an attractive family holiday location and we are also pleased to say that it is a dog friendly holiday location. The luxury holiday lodges at Sherwood Hideaway have been created to meet the expectations of those seeking a more luxurious holiday experience. Among the many outstanding features are crisp Egyptian Cotton sheets and sumptuous towels, duck-down pillows, Molton Brown toiletries, central heating, iPod docking stations and hot tubs.

By train:
The nearest stations are at Retford, Worksop, Newark and Mansfield. All of these are a short taxi drive away.

By car:
The park is near Ollerton, just off the A614. Nearby towns are Mansfield (Junction 28, M1) and Newark (A1).

From Mansfield, take the A617 towards Newark for approximately 6.5 miles or from Newark, take the A617 towards Mansfield for approximately 12.5 miles.

At the A617/A614 roundabout exit North on the A614 signposted to Doncaster. After approximately 6 miles at the Ollerton roundabout carry straight on. Entrance to The Sherwood Hideaway is approximately 1 mile on the left, after a lay-by. This private road winds through the wood for 0.5 mile ending at the park.

The surrounding area offers a huge range of activities for all ages. Enjoy local fun days out, or travel further afield to visit country parks, craft centres, children’s play villages, castles, historic buildings and attractive market towns. For the more sporty character there’s golf courses, horse riding, clay pigeon shooting, water sports and high wire forest adventures, all within easy reach. For eating out the area has a huge choice of eating out options ranging from fine dining to great local pubs, cafés and farm shops.

Clumber Park: the amazing scenery of Clumber Park is perfect for a relaxing and idyllic day out. One of the four Dukeries Estates, the Park boasts the world’s longest double avenue of lime trees and 20 miles of cycle routes.

Nottingham National Water Sports Centre: set in nearly 300 acres of stunning parkland and is home to some of the UK’s best white and flat water for water skiing, white water rafting, sailing, pond-skating and canoeing.

Rufford Abbey Country Park: 12th century ruins of a medieval monastery alongside a contemporary craft centre, lake, woodland walks, a sculpture trail, children’s play village and a cafe and restaurant.

Go Ape Sherwood Pine: tree top adventure course home to the country's longest zip wire and with a kids' playground and picnic area.

Sherwood Pines Forest Farm: home to both farm animals and some more unusual animals including exotic birds, wildfowl, ornamental ducks, wallabies, water buffalo, mara and kune kune pigs. The grounds of the farm are also host to the beautiful and relaxing water gardens, petting areas, gift shop and tea-room serving locally-baked cakes and light snacks.

The Harley Gallery: this gallery aims to provide affordable studio space for artists and craftsmen to ensure the maintenance of hand-skills in an age of mass production. The craft shop is not to be missed.

Nottingham Castle: home to the 17th century castle, an exciting museum charting the history of the Sherwood Forest Regiment and an art gallery. Includes a children’s play section and picnic area.

Wollaton Hall: a stunning restored Edwardian mansion set in five hundred acres of breathtaking gardens.

Southwell: best known for the beautiful and impressive Southwell Minster – the most notable feature being the twin ‘pepper pot’ spires. The nine-hundred year old Norman Minster boasts Romanesque features and leaves visitors in awe.

Newark: a historic market town of Newark renowned for its traditional beautifully cobbled marketplace.

Terms and conditions

Additional terms

The management reserves the right to terminate a holiday without compensation, where unreasonable or anti-social behaviour caused by those persons named on the booking or their guests impairs the enjoyment, comfort or health of other guests.

No bookings for under 21s accepted, under 21s must be accompanied by an adult over 21.

Guests arriving early are welcome to check in and enjoy the park facilities and surroundings until their accommodation is ready.

Your booking will be held until 8am the day after your designated arrival. After this period the management reserves the right to re-let your unit. No refunds offered.

Special requirements (other than location of accommodation) can be put in the special request box when booking, these are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed.

Unfortunately our adapted holiday homes are not suitable for independent wheelchair users travelling alone.

Strictly no dogs allowed in the lodges.

Lodges and park facilities must be left clean and tidy and treated with respect.

Please check the inventory of your accommodation on arrival. Anything missing or accidentally damaged must be reported immediately. Accommodation is inspected at the end of every stay and any loss or damage may be charged for.

The management reserves the right to enter accommodation under exceptional circumstances/for emergencies.

No ball games near accommodation.

Bookings and nominative and non-transferable.

No motorcycles, quad bikes, scooters or other such vehicles are allowed on the park.

The park shall not be responsible for the unavailability of accommodation, entertainment, facilities and sports activities due to maintenance or any other factor outside its control.

Strictly no smoking in accommodation.

Lost property return after departure is subject to a £15 fee for return by post. The management will not be responsible for loss/damage of lost property during return.

Complaints: all claims must be made in writing and within 7 days of departure and must be written and signed by lead guest with contact and booking details. Complaints will be answered within 28 days of reception.

The park accepts no responsibility for injury, damage, theft or loss sustained onsite.
