Heavens to Betsy, this is a location and a half. The village of Betwys Y Coed is right slap bang in Snowdonia National Park for one, surrounded by elevated and pretty popular Gwydir Forest for another, and is a scenic amble upwards to angling at Llyn Elsi reservoir for yet one more. And a waterfall flows in the centre of the village, and it’s only a mile from the worldly famed Swallow Falls. Tis no wonder so many folks go camping around Betwys Y Coed; it’s probably the most popular inland resort in Wales even though tis teeny tiny.
We can’t guarantee a Betwys Y Coed campsite right on the Llugwy, but this oft-painted river doth flow right through the village under the Miner’s Bridge and leads to calm walks along river banks, a pastime that should be undertaken everywhere when possible. (The Llugwy then flows into the River Conwy for trout and salmon fishing, another undertaking that should be undertaken when poss.) Landly, the Conwy Valley Railway Museum in the village is a worthy stop for its miniature railway; undergroundly, take ‘the scariest assault course in the UK’ at the nearby Conwy Falls.
