Lifesaver service at Evesham caravan park

Oct 12 2012 Posted by Laura Canning

We’ve already seen a kidney dialysis machine added to a campsite this summer, and now the owner of a Gloucestershire park has made a new addition to his health and safety features.

Steve Attridge, who runs the Ranch Caravan Park at Honeybourne near Evesham, has bought a defibrillator for use in the park in medical emergencies, with staff also due to receive first-aid training in how to use the device.

The defibrillator is designed to administer an electric shock to someone in cardiac arrest, which helps to regain regular heart rhythm.

The average survival rate after heart attacks in the south-west was 18.7 per cent last year, showing the need for effective treatment immediately after a cardiac arrest.
