Couple celebrates 45 years of Swift touring

Barry and Marion Brown are what can be called veteran caravanners. The couple, who bought their first tourer in 1968, have travelled around the UK and Europe every year since – always using caravans by Swift.
So far they’ve gone through ten tourers and clocked up thousands of travelling miles, and have now had the keys to their new Swift Challenger SE handed to them in a special ceremony by Swift chairman Peter Smith.
Barry and Marion, whose first caravan was a Swift Group tourer, said they were ‘amazed’ at how far caravans had come since their first purchase in the 60s.
‘This latest model is the best yet," Barry said. ‘The Alde central heating is brilliant for us as we get older, and the sunroof, LED lights, fixed beds and stylish design are impressive.
‘Our first ever caravan had a canvas roof, a pin rather than a tow ball and a 12 volt battery within the gas box (now illegal), but our Swift Caravans have always been a real home from home. I’ve always been a bit of a wanderer and we really enjoy the flexibility of caravanning, that we can pack up and go where we want, find a site and park up.’
