What would you do if you won the lottery? Have a champagne bath every day and jet off to the Caribbean every month or so? A new study of 3000 millionaires created since the lottery started in 1994 has found that winners tend to have more modest tastes, with ten per cent splashing out on a new caravan for home-based hols.
The study, released this week by Oxford Economics, also found that of those who did go abroad, 32 per cent didn’t bother with five-star accommodation while there. And the most common make of car new millionaires bought was an Audi.
One in three new lottery winners invested in a hot tub, with one fifth going back to work after their win. 15 per cent started a new business with their winnings.
Suffolk couple Adrian and Gillian Bayford, who won £148 million on Euromillions in August, went to a Scottish caravan park to chill after their win, before going on a holiday abroad – using Easyjet.
