We assure you there’s nothing common about the wonderfully small and secluded Derbyshire campsite of Common End Farm - well maintained with helpful staff and views you won’t want to leave behind, to name just a few of its perks. The very green campsite is set among 20 acres of pastureland, so if you want a ‘real’ camping experience with some much-needed home comforts, book yourself a pitch at Common End Farm.
The site’s traditional stone barn has been transformed into a modern, free-to-use shower and loo block (separated into male and female amenities), but retains its outer Derbyshire charm, so as not to spoil your impressive rural views across Thorpe Cloud and Dovedale.
Ladies - fear not, a hairdryer is provided as are electric sockets (gentlemen, you won’t be missing out either as the same is available in the men's). Also available on site are drinking water taps and all other basics, like designated refuse areas and a chemical disposal point (green fluid only please; you can buy this on site).
The friendly site owners have gone to the trouble of filling the reception with info-filled noticeboards to help you on your stay. Walkers and hikers can explore the southern Peak District National Park, while food can be chomped and drink guzzled after a hard day uphill (and down again) at the local pub, just 300m from the site.
Children will love running about the roomy fields and making their own adventures on day trips in the surrounding area (which includes a famous theme park, family-friendly walks, and towns to explore). The quiet and calm of Common End Farm in the evening means bedding the kids down after a busy day will be no problem at all.

Veel vermeldingen hebben een maximum van 6/8 personen per staplaats, dus probeer jouw reservering op te delen in kleinere groepen, om meer resultaten te krijgen. Bijvoorbeeld: indien je voor 10 personen wilt reserveren kun je in eerste instantie voor 5 personen zoeken en dan 2 staplaatsen boeken.
Indien de staplaats of het type accommodatie het toelaat, kun je voor maximaal 30 volwassenen en 30 kinderen per plek reserveren.
Om meerdere staplaatsen of huisjes te reserveren gebruik je de 'Speciale verzoeken' knop op de reserveringspagina en vraag je of de staplaatsen naast elkaar kunnen worden toegewezen. De camping zal proberen je verzoek in te willigen. Voltooi het reserveringsformulier (je kunt een wachtwoord toevoegen en je kaart bewaren zodat we jouw gegevens kunnen opslaan). Daarna klik je op 'maak eenzelfde soort reservering' bovenaan de bevestigingspagina om de volgende boeking te maken.
Grote groepen: check de voorwaarden van de vakantieaanbieder m.b.t. groepen onder het gedeelte 'Houd rekening met'.
Grote tenten/caravans: check de restricties betreffende maximale grootte om zeker te weten dat jouw eenheid past en is toegestaan op de ruimte die je wilt reserveren.

From the north (M1)
- Leave the M1 at Junction 28 (Alfreton) onto the A38 signposted to Derby
- At the Markeaton Park, Derby roundabout take the 3rd exit for the A52/Ashbourne Road
- On reaching the roundabout at Ashbourne, take the first exit signposted A52 to Leek
- Go straight on at the next roundabout (Homebase)
- Take the first left at the next roundabout (Recycling Centre) signposted A52 to Leek
- Continue on this road through Mayfield and up the hill for a further 1 ½ miles until you enter the village of Swinscoe
- Continue for approximately 0.75 miles passing The Dog and Partridge pub on the left-hand side and you will find us on the right-hand side marked by a green sign.
If you reach the A523 and crossroads to Alton Towers, Blore and Calton you have gone too far.
From the south (M1)
- Leave the M1 at Junction 24 (Nottingham) onto the A453 signposted Nottingham (S)
- At the roundabout take the exit for the A50 signposted Stoke
- Leave the A50 at the roundabout signposted A515 to Ashbourne
- Follow the A515 and on reaching the roundabout at Ashbourne (Homebase), take the first exit signposted A52 to Leek
- Take the first left at the next roundabout (Recyling Centre) signposted A52 to Leek

- Leave the M6 at Junction 15 (Stoke/Newcastle/A500) and merge onto the A500 (Signs for Stoke on Trent/Stone/A34/Uttoxeter)
- Look out for the right turn onto the A50 to Ashbourne.
- Continue along the A50 until you reach the cross roads signposted right to Ashbourne, straight over to Blore.
- Turn right and after ½ mile you will enter the village of Swinscoe. You will find us immediately on entering Swinscoe on the left hand side marked by a green sign.
If you reach the Dog and Partridge pub in the village you have gone too far.
By rail:
Derby Station is approximately 30 minutes by car. Taxis available from the station. Regular bus service also run from Derby bus station.
By bus:
Trent Barton (1) and Arriva Derby (1) operate between Derby bus station and Ashbourne. Clowes Coaches (108) operates between Ashbourne and Swinscoe but services are very limited.

Set up camp at Common End Farm for all your outdoor activity and exploration needs: you’re on the doorstep to do just about anything you want to take your hand (or foot) to as well.
Walkers, set out from Common End Farm to the southernmost tip of the Peak District National Park; cyclists, slip on your brightest Lycras (not compulsory) to take to an array of laid-back or more challenging cycle paths, and for those who simply want to visit some of the prettiest towns and villages in the UK, Common End Farm has easy accessibility to plenty.
The Tissington and Manifold cycle trail is about 36 miles and is well worth embarking on for the day. The route will take you through the stunning landscape from closed-in tracks to open viewpoints across the hills, as well as past duck ponds, an old mill, and historic towns.
Cycle hire is available at Ashbourne (a little market town just three miles from the site, also great for picking up essentials), Waterhouses and Parsley Hay. The National Trust-owned land of the Dovedale valley is just a two-mile walk from the campsite, which you can get to along the river’s footpaths.
Did someone say village pub? There is a great one within walking distance of the campsite for a hearty meal or well-deserved beverage after a day exploring. While within about three miles from Common End Farm you’ll find two Good Pub Guide pubs which you can check out while cycling and hiking.
The award-winning Alton Towers is just five miles to the west of Common End Farm. Packed with some of the most exciting rides on the planet, including the world’s first vertical-drop rollercoaster, Oblivion, and The Smiler (comprising of 14 loops), thrillseekers won’t know where to start. There are also plenty of attractions for those who like a quieter day out and the park has CBeebies Land for littlies and indoor waterpark Splash Landings as well. Just double check the park’s opening times before you travel as these vary throughout the year.
Almost straddling Derbyshire and Staffordshire, from Common End Farm you can explore plenty of museums, stately homes and historic buildings; adrenaline junkies can get their kicks from activities like climbing, caving, hang-gliding and various watersports, and for those who simply want a well-deserved pampering, grab your cucumber slices and book yourself in for a treatment (or two) at the local health spa.

Terugbetalingen: geen boetes
Er wordt geen geld teruggegeven in het geval van slecht weer of bij een late aankomst en/of vroeg vertrek.
Als je jouw reservering moet annuleren of wijzigen, laat ons dit dan zo snel mogelijk weten zodat iemand anders kan reserveren. Je kunt ervoor kiezen om een reis- en/of annuleringsverzekering af te sluiten.
Houd er rekening mee dat jouw aanbetaling is betaald aan Pitchup.com en dat deze niet terugvorderbaar is.
Betaling
Je kunt nu een niet-terugvorderbare aanbetaling van 15% doen. Common End Farm zal het uitstaande bedrag 1 week voor aankomst van je kaart afschrijven, of zal dit direct doen indien de aankomstdatum eerder valt dan over 1 week.
Je kunt er ook voor kiezen het volledige bedrag te betalen ten tijde van je reservering, of op elk moment voor de einddatum.
