Old-style camping with new-style facilities, minutes from the Blue Flag Devon coastline and a 500-acre nature reserve stuffed with species of all sorts… we'll take two weeks at least at Leadstone Camping in Dawlish Warren, please.
This very friendly site has been family-owned since 1974 and is one of those where the owners do their utmost to make sure guests have the best time possible. Although this is traditional and uncommercialised camping, standards are modern: the facilities block was completely redeveloped in 2012 and has showers, loos, free hot water to basins, a hairdryer, baby changing unit and an accessible room with shower, loo and wash basin.
Leadstone also has a launderette, playground, washing-up facilities and water points in the camping fields. Freezer pack hire as well as eggs, milk, bread, Calor gas and Camping Gaz are available from reception.
For other supplies and nosh, Sainsbury's is a mile away, and anyone walking the ten minutes to Dawlish Warren will find a pub serving lunch and evening meals handily placed along the way.

Many sites set a maximum occupancy of 6/8 people per pitch, so try breaking your booking down into smaller groups to generate more results. For example, if you’re a group of 10, enter 5 people in your initial search and then book 2 pitches.
However, where the pitch or accommodation occupancy allows it, you can now make a booking for up to 30 adults and 30 children on one pitch.
To book multiple pitches or accommodation, use the 'Special requests' box on the booking page to ask to be sited together. Complete the booking form for the first booking (you can add a password and save your card so that we remember your details). Then click "Make another booking like this" at the top of the confirmation page to make the next booking.
Large groups: check the listing page for any group restrictions set out in the terms and section titled ‘Please note’.
Large tents/caravans: check the restrictions on unit dimensions to ensure your unit is suitable for the space you will be provided with.

Travelling by car
Leave the M5 motorway at Junction 30 (Exeter) and take the signposted road A379 to Dawlish. As you approach Dawlish (approximately 11 miles), turn left on the brow of the hill onto Warren Road, signposted Dawlish Warren. Our site is half a mile on the right.
Satnav users: as you approach Dawlish from Exeter, do not use Week Lane as it is very narrow. Stay on the A379 and turn left into Warren Road just over the crest, Leadstone Camping is 0.5 mile on the right.
Travelling by coach/bus
National Express’s scheduled coach network is easily the best value way to travel throughout the UK. Exeter is the nearest coach station then change onto the local Stagecoach service No 2 to Dawlish and change at Warren Road/ Marine Garage for the No 22 into Dawlish Warren (10 minutes' walk to us if you want to stretch your legs!). Ask for Leadstone Camping. The stop is at our entrance.
Travelling by train
Dawlish Warren is the closest station (about 10 minutes' walk) or jump on any bus heading to Dawlish, and ask for Leadstone Camping. Dawlish town station is well served by taxis and, of course, the bus.
Walking the coastal path
We are just 10 minutes' walk from the coast path at Dawlish Warren.

Dawlish Warren is a top place to be in Devon, partly for its safe clean beach and partly for its sand dunes leading onto 500-acre Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve, a hugely popular spot with birdwatchers and botanists.
Leadstone Camping's location makes it easy to get to most of Devon's attractions and it's simple to get from the site to wherever takes your fancy. Roads are relatively quiet for most of the year apart from in high season.
On foot, walk the half mile to the Warren (it's a safe stroll and suitable for prams) or to the South West Coast Path within ten minutes; it's also half a mile to the Exe Cycle Trail or the circular six-mile Dawlish Discovery Walk.
A mile away is the Exe Estuary – another top local spot and a hit for fishing, hiking, biking and birdwatching – and the town of Dawlish itself is a mile and a half away: look out for the famous black swans.
Also nearby is the harbour and two good pubs at Cockwood, two and a half miles away, and golf at Starcross before taking the ferry from here to Exmouth.
Shaldon, seven miles away, has another golf course and can be reached by ferry from the busy resort of Teignmouth.
For towns, take off to Exminster (nine miles; more golf), Torquay (10 miles), Newton Abbot (11 miles; racecourse and ancient market), Exeter (13 miles) and Paignton (13 miles; take the steam railway from here to Kingswear and Dartmouth).
For villages, have a cream tea and a tipple at Old Walls Vineyard at Bishopsteignton seven miles away, and crouch down to see the fab and award-winning model village at Babbacombe just outside Torquay.
Other very decent days out include fourteenth century Powderham Castle (five miles), the bike trail, birds of prey and butterfly walk at Haldon Forest Park (eight miles) and getting giddy at Crealy Great Adventure Theme Park.
