Hedley Wood Caravan and Camping Park

It’s safe to say that Hedley Wood Caravan & Camping Park is one of the most animal-friendly sites around: as well as the facilities for canine visitors, winner of The Kennel Club's 2012 award for Somewhere to Camp no less, mini campers will do cartwheels when they find all the feathered and furry friends in the pets corner.

Message to Fido: there’s no extra charge for dogs, so bring your mates - the exercise area, exciting mile-long dog walk and shelves full of pooch produce in the shop will get tails wagging. Should your humans insist on boring sightseeing in places which haven’t yet grasped the concept of doggie service, you can always ditch them for a day’s partying in the reasonably priced kenneling facilities on site. Just remember to keep your owners happy by letting them pick up after you and parade you around on the lead outside of the canine fun zones. You can even pretend to let them choose the pitch - sheltered, open terrain or sea views. They do like to think they’re in charge, after all...

This is a well-equipped site: there are plenty of electric hook-ups, two modern toilet and shower blocks with free hot water, facilities for dishwashing, laundry and recharging of batteries and freezer packs, adventure playgrounds for both littlies and older kids, plus a shop for vittles and other camping essentials. Foodwise, the shop provides a takeaway snack menu, or there’s homemade grub served in the conservatory of the Woodman Bar (open throughout high season and at other busy times of year).
