Derbyshire is Darcy land. The grouchy hero of Pride and Prejudice had his home here and was described as ‘owning half of Derbyshire’. (To which the unimpressed object of his affections, Elizabeth Bennet, replied: ‘The miserable half?’ Reader, she married him.)

Austen fans will be unable to visit Darcy pad’s Pemberley, it being fictional and all, but those who like to gawp enviously at stately homes and historic sites will find Central England's Derbyshire stuffed with them – the county has several National Trust properties as well as elaborate gardens, with Chatsworth House used as Pemberley in the 2005 Pride and Prejudice adaptation.

For walking, horse-riding and mountain biking, a goodly chunk of the Peak District National Park lies in Derbyshire; for more gentle pedals, try the Tissington and Manifold cycling trails – and there’s plenty of fishing and golf close at hand too, as well as leisure and theme parks for the kids.

Derbyshire holiday parks and campsites suit all flavours and budgets, such as family-friendly parks, sites with an on-site restaurant or café, glamping sites including camping pods, yurts, shepherd's huts and gypsy caravans...use our 80+ filters on the left and the ‘Sort by’ box on the right to find your definitive Derbyshire campsite or caravan park.
